AIDS


 People living with HIV/AIDS often feel that they are isolated from society and have nowhere to turn and no one to help them, causing them to lose hope.  In some countries, this is very true.  The stigma associated with HIV/AIDS has caused the infected person to retreat into secrecy and isolation.  This often results in an earlier than usual death due to the lack of love, touch, and acceptance.  
 
Betty Rushford is very much qualified to lead this project.  As an ordained minister she knows and lives the Word of God.  Betty lost a son to AIDS in June 1998.  She founded an AIDS ministry in Chattanooga, TN in 1989.  This ministry, gave her the experience of helping many people affected by the virus and in establishing other AIDS ministries. She knows and understands the many faceted sides of HIV/AIDS and how it affects a person's life.

Betty has authored a book, MERCY TRIUMPHS IN THE WORLD OF AIDS, in which she recounts the struggles she and her family endured after learning of her son's diagnosis of HIV. When word got out in their hometown, the people panicked, forcing them to relocate to Tennessee. This is a heartwarming story you won't want to miss.  

Each AIDS Seminar consists of a two day, six session comprehensive training using a curriculum developed by Betty Rushford.

Betty Teaching SeminarThe pastors and church leaders will be educated about HIV/AIDS and trained in how to help stop the stigma surrounding the virus by teaching their congregations to unconditionally accept and love those affected.  They will be motivated to teach abstinence and sound moral behaviours on a regular basis to help arrest the spread of AIDS.

Upon completion of the seminar, each pastor and church leader will be presented a lapel pin bearing the logo of the project.

We have already conducted the Seminar in Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, India, Haiti, Tanzania,Trinidad and Guatemala. These churches are encouraged to provide a refuge where the person who feels isolated from society can come and find love and support. The Seminar is based on Hebrews 6:18 which states, "that.....we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us".

We have invitations to conduct the Seminar and medical camps in 2010 in Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Malawi. It is our goal to fulfill these invitations. You can share in these missions with your donations and prayers.
